Saturday, as part of the "Support project for the commercialization of fragile and perishable goods" in which the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) committed with the association Afè Nèg Combite, http://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-8839-haiti-agriculture-moa-for-the-marketing-of-fresh-products.html , the MCI in partnership with the association "Afè Nèg Combite", proceeded at the inauguration of the pilot center of Conditioning for fruits and vegetables of Kenscoff, in the presence of among others the Mayor of Kenscoff, Ms. Clarah Clesca, the leader of the Organization Afè Nèg Combit (ANC), Father Oxyde Jean better known under the name Pè Sicot, of the President Michel Martelly, of Jacques Thomas, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Wilson Laleau, acting Minister of Trade and Industry.

The President of the Republic has renewed its determination to mentor producers and greengrocers of Kenskoff by offering them better working conditions. "Mwen ankouraje modèl pwojè sa yo ki kapab genyen yon vrè enpak nan amelyore kondisyon lavi agrikiltè yo, men tou pèmèt yon seri zòn eksplwate potansyèl agrikòl yo. Rèv mwen se gen yon peyi ki kapab bay tout pitit li manje. Pou sa rive fèt, nap bay agrikiltè yo bon jan ankadreman menm jan sa fèt nan kenskòf jodi a."

With over 70% of the population of Kenscoff living from agriculture, this first Pilot Centre of processing, conditioning and packaging will allow to overcome the obstacles faced by small planters : Reduce their loss of 20 to 30%; Keep fruit and vegetables in the best conditions ; Increase their profits and production 30 to 50% ; Being more competitive and contribute to the development of their area by promoting job creation.

Indeed, the lack of physical infrastructure for post harvest operations (collection, transportation, processing and packaging) resulted in a systematic devaluation of fruits and vegetables and the loss of much of the products after harvest. With the installation of this pilot Centre and thesupervision of MCI, the Government Martelly-Lamothe intends to contribute to the standardization of procedures of processing, packaging and marketing of fragile and perishable products to significantly improve the purchasing power of small planters, as pointed out Pè Sicot.

Wilson Laleau, recalled the importance of compliance with the standards for fruit and vegetables in order to be sold optimally not only on the Haitian market, but also on the Caribbean and international market. He also stressed the role of the Ministry in the implementation of norms, standards and a quality label for products and services Haitian, through the Haitian Bureau of Standards and Metrology. He also noted that other Centres of this type will be implemented across the country and operators of the packaging line will also be trained as in Kenscoff.

"This project will spread across the country, because I want to progress for Haiti and I work in this direction in order to get everyone out of poverty. I also believe in training, and I'm looking for the necessary resources, so that all young people have access to training that is useful to them," added the Head of State at the inauguration.
